meaning not as former Staff Member, but as current Staff Member!

As if he never existed, if I didn't have these pictures and documents of him,
nobody would have believed me!

Seems correct to me. Here is the info regarding him from the book "Пажеский Его Императорского Величества корпус за 100 лет. 1802-1902" that was published in 1902. He is listed as a current member of the staff.

Impossible. First - such thing (St.George cross with diamonds) has never existed. Second - order of St.George is a military decoration that could only be awarded for acts of combat related heroism. Third - the St.George cross worn on a neck ribbon would be a 3rd class. Meaning that he had to have a 4th class cross worn on his chest as well. At that time not many generals had two crosses of St.George.

If it's a Russian decoration then it had to be a cross of St.Vladimir. It's the only one that fits. Otherwise it's some kind of foreign decoration.

I was talking about the cross on the neck ribbon only. The smaller badge on the collar could be anything. Details are not distinguishable. It might be a miniature version of Corps of Pages badge that was introduced the same year (1902) but there is no way to prove it.
