Impossible. First - such thing (St.George cross with diamonds) has never existed. Second - order of St.George is a military decoration that could only be awarded for acts of combat related heroism. Third - the St.George cross worn on a neck ribbon would be a 3rd class. Meaning that he had to have a 4th class cross worn on his chest as well. At that time not many generals had two crosses of St.George. If it's a Russian decoration then it had to be a cross of St.Vladimir. It's the only one that fits. Otherwise it's some kind of foreign decoration. | | |

1 февраля 2012 21:23 That's what I thought as well, and I had looked in a lot of countries! But St. Vladimir is ( in my opinion) not possible either! The only thing, that could represent the Maltese Order,
is the insignia on the Collar, because the school insignia didn't have
a "Crown" on the Maltese Cross!By frankmartinoff at 2011-12-31 If it was forbidden, he might have just worn the button on the collar,
as a representation,

I was talking about the cross on the neck ribbon only. The smaller badge on the collar could be anything. Details are not distinguishable. It might be a miniature version of Corps of Pages badge that was introduced the same year (1902) but there is no way to prove it. | | |
