MEZHERAUPS, Ivan (Jan-Robert) Yakovlevich (born April 8, 1894, Oknisty
village (according to another version it is Tuncali) Kovno province, Latvia � ?). He was
a Russian army officer. The exact date of arrival in Manchuria is not established. In
emigration he accepted Latvian citizenship. He was a member of the Board of the
Latvian citizenship. In 1927 in Harbin he finished Faculty of Law. He was engaged in
teaching activities in Harbin: 1931�1937 � a teacher at the British College of
Commerce; 1932�1935 � a teacher of the first Russian Private Grammar School; 1933�
1936 � a teacher of Grammar School of Dostoevsky; 1936�1938 � a teacher of the first

Real School; from 1931 � a teacher of the College and the School of foreign languages
of the Young Men�s Christian Association (the YMCA), from 1945 � a member of the
college administration, inspector; from 1936 � a teacher of the Public Commercial
School in Harbin; from 1939 � a teacher of the YMCA Institute. He taught at a number
of disciplines: commercial arithmetic, economic geography, accounting and the English
language. In 1921 he took part in the production of the one-day newspaper �Tatianin
den� of January 12 (26), it was published in Harbin by the Russian Student Society.
Date and place of death are unknown.
