Pour autant que je sache, le nom de famille Akhverdoff est d'origine arménienne tandis que Pridonishvili est un nom de famille géorgien typique.[/q]
Thank you very much, Dio.
Indeed, AKHVERDOFF is actually the Russified version of AKHVERDIAN. As for PRIDONOFF, I was thinking that it was the Russified version of PRIDONIAN, but I have no proof of that.
So I'm doing research about my grandmother's family. Her name was
Elena "Gilberte" Konstantinovna AKHVERDOFF (Tiflis, May 24, 1915 - France, 1986).
Her father,
Konstantin Artemievich AKHVERDOFF (Tiflis, March 23, 1884 - May 5, 1957 - buried in Vaké cemetery) is the son of
Artem AKHVERDOFF (or AKHVERDIAN), and
Anna PRIDONOFF.
Family legend says they were 17 children

, but we only know the names of two of his brothers:
-
Grigori (Tiflis, 1875 -?), Doctor at the hospital on Mikhailowsy prospect, and professor at the faculty of medicine,
-
Ovanès, who was a lawyer.
Konstantin was a civil engineer and architect and studied at the Institute of Civil Engineers in St. Petersburg. I think that he studied at the Tiflis Gymnasium, before (I have a picture of him in uniform that I could possibly show you).
Her mother,
Jeanne NOURY (1885-1947) was french, and she came to Saint Petersburg to be a teacher. She met Konstantin there, and they were married on June 5, 1911 at St. Catherine's Church in St. Petersburg. Then, they lived in Tiflis.
Jeanne and her two children (my grandmother and her brother Artem, Pierre Konstantinovich AKHVERDOFF - Tiflis, September 24, 1912 - France, 1982) fled Tiflis shortly after the entry of Soviet troops, in 1921. They transited through Constantinople and they finally arrived in France at the end of 1921. Konstantin was never able to join them, and finaly remarrying in 1926.
Before their departure, they lived at 138 Mikhailovsky prospect (now Agmashenebeli avenue), Tiflis, where Konstantin also worked.
Konstantin's last address was at 66 Engels street (now Lado Asatiani street), Tbilissi.
I am therefore looking for any element concerning :
- Konstantin's parents, Artem AKHVERDOFF and ANNA PRIDONOFF : dates (birth, death...), parents, adresses (in Tiflis and maybe at the countryside), profession... I do know nothing about them, except that Artem was a businessman
- Konstantin's siblings,
- My grandmother's baptismal certificate. I know that her brother Artem was baptized at Norachen Church, I guess she may have been baptized in the same place,
- anything about the 138 Mikhaïlovsky prospect,
- when they left Tiflis,
- Anything about the family (certificates, press, photos, memories...) even if small informations !
I hope that someone could help me.
I would be extremely grateful.
Sincerely,
Marianne
