It's a bit strange though, that I can't find Konstantin in 1830. He should be around 3 years old.
[/q]

Age error in the records was about 2-3 years. Konstantin hasn't been born yet or was a newborn.

I need to find more confessional sheets. Normally, Grigory was born in 1831 and Stefan in 1829. For all the following confessional, Konstantin is older than Stefan and Grigory...

Hello everyone.
I'm back after a few vacations. I didn't quite understand the debate. I had the impression that it revolved around a word concerning Jankel Gurin. What do I ultimately understand?
[/q]

Hello. It was about the translation of the word 'ìåùàíèí" (meschanin), because some users went for 'tradesman' or even 'bourgeois', while I chose 'burgher' as a historical equivalent of a city community member, which is closer to the Russian term, in my opinion. And it had finally sparked off a little debate.
As, meschanin in Russia (plural, meschane) was a social estate of town/city dwellers, but as it was a legal status (i.e., in law and with certain duties and rights), not an occupation (since, people of different social estate could reside in towns), so we had some discussion of whether words like 'tradesman' are appropriate.

...........................................................................................................................................
Well, there's a Wiki page on the Russian 'social estates' in English.
Any translation of any foreign historical term is for debate, but I hope it will shed some light on the social system your ancestry lived in

The term may be bourgeois because on the JewishGen site which lists most Jews in the world, they often specify petty bourgeois. It might have a link.

I have one last question. I still have the impression that I have to look at the Nikitsky churches but between 1831 and 1837, there was no longer a Nikitsky archive. What does that mean exactly? The archives have not been digitized? Or do I have to look in others?

Confessions sheets for these years have not been digitized. You can look at this link https://epoisk.ru/cases/2124/all/
There is information about all the documents of Nikitsky Sorok.

OK that’s what it seemed to me. I don't have many choices left. I think I'm going to have to look more into metric books.
Does anyone have a specific search method for finding a birth certificate? I would like to find Grigory's one
