28 августа 2023 14:25 Maybe there's a possibility to appeal to the RGVIA (Russian State Archive of Military History), since they can have files and other documents on officers, especially if you know where they served and the period. Officers had to fill out special forms called 'formilarnye spiski', a kind of record of their service, which included info about their background, at least, it theiretically should contain the social estate they belogned to before the service. She didn't really change. Maria gave two different brithdate for her husband then her children gave another birthdate of his father. I have more the impression that he gave an approximate date but that they did not know anything about it. It was already known that in 1877 Grigoriy was a staff captain. He couldn't have been born in 1856 or 1857 as Maria claimed. Age didn't match
