I am looking for information on my Grandfather's Family from Sakovichi, Grodno, Belarus - Near Slonim.

Surname: Chilko / Khilko / Хилько / Хилко

My Grandfather:
Pawel Chilko

Born in Sakowice, Slonim, Poland (Now Sakovichi Village, Grodno, Belarus – Near Slonim)
Attended Primary School in Sakowice 1929 – 1934

Aleksander/Alexander Chilko
Pawel’s Brother

Unknown Date of Birth – possibly 1923
Pawel said Aleks was accused of blowing up a railway and taken by the Germans and he didn’t know what happened to him.
? maybe a member of The Partisans?

Zachary Chilko
Pawel’s Father

Alternative Spelling:
Zaharijusz Chilko (from Pawel’s Post War Card from the Arolsen Archives)
Zakhary Khilko (Russian / Belarusian Spelling)
D.O.B. 30 January 1889 (according to Pawel’s diary)
Served in WWI. Died of complications from something related to the war after the kids were born.
? Maybe exposure to chemical weapons?

Nadza Jadzia Ochlorowic (from Pawel’s Australian Marriage Certificate)
Pawel’s Mother
Alternative Spellings:
Nadzieja Ocholowicz (from Pawel’s Post War Card from the Arolsen Archives)
Nadznaga Ochnalwecz (from my Aunty who is unsure where she saw/found this spelling)
Nadezhda Oklorovich (Russian / Belarusian Spelling)
D.O.B. 22 May 1885 (according to Pawel’s Diary)
We think Pawel mentioned returning home after the war and mum wasn’t there.
Pawel also mentioned that his hometown/village was flattened to the ground after the war which suggests he may have actually gone home to find mum.

I would be grateful if anyone could help me locate any information on my family. It's very difficult with the languages and also living in Australia.

Thank you 101.gif

Thank you. But I don't think it's our Alexander... Ours would be Alexander Zakharovich Khilko. Going off his father's name.

Dear Rebecca,

My name is Khilko Yuliya , and I live in Switzerland.

I recently learned about your search for relatives of the Khilko family from the village of Sakovichi near Slonim. I believe that we may be related.

My father was Leonid Alexandrovich Khilko, born in 1951. He was from the same village, Sakovichi, and later lived in Slonim.

His father was Alexander Khilko, and his mother was Efrosinya Gavrilovna Khilko, also called Frosya.

Leonid also had a younger brother named Anatoly, or Tolik.

From the information you posted, I understand that your grandfather Pavel Khilko had a brother named Alexander Zakharovich Khilko. We think that this Alexander may have been my grandfather.

At the moment, we do not yet have archival documents confirming his patronymic and the names of his parents, but the village, surname and family details seem to match very closely.

I also have a brother named Dmitry, and I have a son named Kirill. Dmitry also has a son.

We would be very happy to exchange family information, photographs and memories with you. Perhaps together we can confirm exactly how our families are connected.

I hope to hear from you.

Warm regards,
[khilko
