Pay attention to the phrase about marriage: "announced in the battalion order". My guess is that their marriage took place in an infantry or regimental church.
If I'm not wrong Vilna local regiment = Novo-Troksky 169th Infantry Regiment. You can see how the names changed here link. Your Nechaev was in the 17th reserve personnel regiment of the Vilna local battalion. But they only had a regimental church in 1892. (if I found the information correctly)

The RGVIA has a fund F. 7583, 1 op., 12 units. Chronicle, last dates: 1877-1879. 17th Infantry Reserve Battalion (1877-1879). May be there would be some information (battalion order for example).
But anyway you are already extremely lucky to find date of marriage and maiden name.
It might also make sense to look at F. 2666. Op. 3 d.20 52nd Vilna Infantry Regiment of Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich. Regimental Church. If I'm not mistaken those regiments were connected. There are marriage records for 1877–1886.

I just thought of something about the couple Ignatiy Engel and Aleksandra Sinyavskaya. They were married in Moscow in 1885 and Grigory was their best man. So we can already say that Grigory was there between 1880 and 1885. Then in 1895 when Grigory's son was born in Kaunas, Ignatiy was his godfather and was a school teacher. So he probably settled there and probably had children there too. So while waiting for the research to unravel on Mikhail's school record and the Nechaev - Sinyavsky marriage, I look at the births between 1885 and 1890 in Kaunas or 1895 if I don't find anything before.
So far I've never found anything in Moscow with the name Engel so I think that's where I have to look. Or maybe Chaussy...
