The only guess here https://forum.vgd.ru/327/4979/#last was Vladimir Grade 2 or 3 (SVKM de L) - if it's a Russian one. It's all one can guess for this quality dntknw.gif

спасибо за помощь, но я не могу найти Св. Владимира к 5 жемчугу или 5 алмазам в концах креста!

Я не могу найти российскую Премию, которая смотрит близко или подобный этому!

и премия??? в воротнике выглядит подобным мальтийской Премии а не знакам отличия школы!


and the award??? at the collar looks similar to the Maltese Award and not the insignia of the school!

Dear Martinoff!
In my opinion (taking into account the quality of the photo), the reward on the chest of the man is hanging on a ribbon. In the Russian Empire, almost all of the orders of the second and third grade were wearing like this. Object really looks like a Maltese cross ("the tail of a swallow"), but also like a regular "expanding" cross.
Signs of the order were often decorated with diamonds by laureates themselves.

Dear "SVKM de L",

Thank you for the links and I apologize that I have to ask a possibly silly question!

The example you gave, in the two links, do make sense,
but if you believe that in my picture the depicted award is the St. Vladimir Order, shouldn't there be red jewels just like in your example!

But the stones are all white, the closest would be the St. George Order,
...but the St. George was solely a military award, .....and possibly unfitting for a Head Priest of the Maltese Chapel of St. John ............or maybe I am wrong?

P.S. I found your old message with a question about the Martynov' coat of arms. You have not found it, as I understand. I have information about another 2 arms: Alexei Martynov, Colonel (granted 1846.11.15) and descendants of Alexei Martynov, Collegiate Councilor (granted 1863.03.29).
