[q] Anna Alekseeva (the widow sergeant)?

It's not indicated how she's related to him, which means she could be a renter at his home. His mother should have been listed as his mother, because it was required to name the relation in the household, as apparently the household should be a family, but sometimes there could be other people unrelated to the owner.

ah too bad, I was not far from having the grandparents of Grigory Nechaev

I have a little question about Ivan and Anne Nechaev. They are present in the confession book in 1828 but not in the census 1834-1850. Are they dead or did they just leave the house ?[/q]
Ivan had probably moved out. Anna had probably married away. The censuses in Russia didn't record genealogical relations, but households, i.e. if someone moved out they were listed in a different household. Women in the 19th century censuses were only presented as of now, without reference to the previous census. So, if a daughter married away, it wasn't indicated. Only in 1830, the marriage age was officially regulated in Russia, with minimum 16 years for females and 18 years for males. However, age of girls under 16 still can be found. At the same time, until you find the actual birth record, you don't know the exact age. ......................... To find out the fate of Ivan you can research the 7th (1815-16) census, as something happened to them before 1834 (the 8th census). | | Лайк (1) |

Ok Ok, so we can say that Anna got married between 1828 an 1834. At the moment, I put 1813 as birthdate for Ivan and 1815 for Anna. It gives me a research period

28 августа 2023 23:03 15 февраля 2025 18:32 how do you do research in the censuses exactly? I still have a little trouble with the site. Is the 1816 census at this link: https://yandex.ru/archive/cata...c53c156b/2if it is there, how to find the Nechaev without having to search the 1000+ pages?

29 августа 2023 2:38 15 февраля 2025 18:35 Another question comes to my mind. Is there any way to find a photo of Grigory Nechaev? as he was a soldier I thought that there was perhaps a photo of him somewhere

Yandex archives service was invented as an AI tool reading handwritten texts (of course, to the best of its ability). So, if the AI won't find it via the search tool, then you'll need to go though yourself, until you find the right census. The only way to go through the documents yourself I know is to change the page number in the hyperlink. For example: https://yandex.ru/archive/cata...c53c156b/2To go to the next page I type 3, instead of 2 after the last slash (/3) and enter. There's also the direct Moscow city archive service, with the traditional page navigation. https://cgamos.ru/metric-books/Moscow archive's censuses https://cgamos.ru/skazki/confession books: https://cgamos.ru/ispovedalnye_vedomosti/

Theoretically, if there's a file on him as an officer in an archive, but it's unlikely so it contains any photo, because it was the 19th century and photos were still quite rare. He could also appear on a group photo with his corps, but would you recognize him? If so, you can search for the right corps photos. | | Лайк (1) |

It depends if his son Mikhail looks a lot like him, if so I should be able to recognize him. It also depends on the quality of the image. I'm going to apply for his military file on the website you gave me

I've wanted to comment on it for some times now. Don't get me wrong, but you may not fully realize just how lucky you are that you've gotten so much about your ancestry just via a forum. VGD is not a service of free genealogists, here usually people search on their own or pay for research in archives. On this thread, people just try to help as much as they can, because you're a foreigner and don't seem to speak Russian, and it's too hard for you alone. However, don't fully rely on getting 100% of your genealogy just like this. I wish it was so easy in Russia, but most people collect their genealogies piece-by-piece for years. Don't get me wrong, again. Foreigners on this website just need to realize, there's no magical ancesty.com in Russia that contains all about their Russian ancestry)) | | Лайк (1) |
