As er malək (ер малък , "small er") in Bulgarian (Ь, ь)
Original use In the Old Church Slavonic language, the yer was a vowel letter, indicating the so-called "reduced vowel": ъ = *[ŭ], ь = *[ĭ] in the conventional transcription. These vowels stemmed from the Proto-Balto-Slavic short */u/ and */i/ (compare Latin angulus and Old Church Slavonic ǫgъlъ. In all West Slavic languages the yer either disappeared or was transformed into /e/ in strong positions, and in South Slavic languages strong yer reflexes differ widely across dialects.
Ъ
Ъ, Ъъ (jer, jor, twardy znak) – podstawowa litera cyrylicy, używana dzisiaj: w rosyjskim – do oznaczenia, że spółgłoskę i samogłoskę jotowaną wymawia się oddzielnie (w językach białoruskim i ukraińskim zastępowana przez apostrof [']); w języku bułgarskim – dla oddania dźwięku /ə/;
łacińskie -us, sanskryckie -as czy starogreckie -os).

In the Caucasus region, we find some of the toponyms related to the Serb name in Georgia (Serbaisi, Serebryannoye or Serebryanyy, Serebryanoye), and Azerbaijan (Serebovski or Serebrovskiy, Seri-abad, Ser-Abad). There are also many toponyms related to the Serb name found in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, which can show possible ways of the migration of Serbs from the Caucasus to Central Europe and to their present location in the Balkans. The location of these toponyms could suggest that Serbs moved from the Caucasus in two directions: northwest and northeast. It is suggested that the northwestern group later reached the Carpathians, Central Europe and the Balkans, while the southeastern group reached the Ural mountains, Kama river, Siberia (according to some towns named after the Serbs), and the coast of the Sea of Japan, where there are two towns named 'Serbia' and two other towns named after the Serb toponym 'Rashka'. The Serbs toponyms are the most densely concentrated in the territory of modern Czech Republic, Western Ukraine, and southern Poland as well as Eastern Germany.
In the Caucasus, the homeland of the Serbs, they left their traces around the river Volga (Araxes in Greek). In modern Georgian, that river is called "Rashki". This name was used by Balkan Serbs as a name for their first state and is found wherever the name Serb is found in clusters indicating settlements. It is often used to designate hydronyms and likely meant 'river' or 'water' in Old Serb.
The Serbs migrated in two directions from the Caucasus, northwest and northeast. Those who went northwest became overlords to the Slavs. There they established a mighty empire and became slavicized.
The Caucasian Avars who conquered the Balkans have given Serbia, Crna Gora, and Albania the names each respectively bears today. In the Lesghian-Avar language, the Balkan Crna Gora carries the same toponym of the land they left behind in the Caucasus: also called Crna Gora, now part of Daghestan. In the Lesghian-Avar language: Srbi means "people." Also, in the Lesghian-Avar language: Albania is the land they called their homeland, neighbouring Armenia, once known as Ancient Caucasian Albania, dating back 2,000 years ago, but still found in old maps. You see, the ancestors of the Serbs, Montnegrins, and Albanians were Avar tribes (not to be confused with Mongol tribes near Siberia) from the Caucasus, however the indigenous people such as the Thracians, Dacians, Illyrians, and Slav retainers, were fussed with them, giving mixed signals to us all today. "Chor" w osetyńskim znaczy słońce. They both came to the Balkans to fight, booty and re-settle Slavs, just like the Bulgarian-Utigurs did, a Turkic people, another race altogether. It is no wonder that the Croats claim that they are of Persian antecedents today. "Hrvati" means followers of the sun in Ossetian (Persian) dialect. There is a Persian tribe by the name of Hrvati as well. Avar name Avarian Philologists think the Avar name is coming from Caucasian Avarian "Bo" = "the armed nation" , and "Or" = "the river" words. [4]Bo-or , is the ancient A-Bar name of the White Khuns. İts means that the army is using ferrum and horses. First Huns were the Sino-Caucasian. But later Huns were Aryan mixed.
Bo-or ->Obry? Thanks to the unusual sagacity of their leader (Kagan Bayan, ca. 558-582), they succeeded in securing all six within a decade (558-568). Evidently the Iranian merchants of the «Alan» confederacy, who immediately recognized that the future pax would hold great opportunities for them, provided the Avars with funds while they were still in the North Caucasus. Proof of this is that the Avars requested and received assistance from the «king» of the Alans in establishing contacts with Byzantium [172]. Subsequently, all territories important for commercial strategy, including the Danube limes, the Elbe frontier with the Franks, and the Baltic coast, immediately came under the control of the Iranian establishments, called in the sources Serbs, Croats, Obotriti and Vilti [173]. The first to join the Avars as partners were the Hunnic Onnoġurs and Quturġurs, and, a little later, the Tarniax [174]. Soon they forced into the confederacy other Hunnic groups, the Utiġurs and the Proto-Mongolian Ζαβενδέρ = Zäben-der (= Säbir), who previously had ordinarily cooperated with Byzantium [175]. To organize a military force, the Avars needed the military and administrative specialists obtainable from sedentary states. At that time this meant Byzantium and the Frankish empire. Bayan, the new charismatic leader, chose to look to the Franks. His first attack on the Frankish frontier was defeated, in 562 [176]. Three years later, however, he won a great victory over the Frankish king Sigibert and, to judge from the data in Volga ancient Scythian hydronym *Rhā, supposedly cognate with the ancient Avestan and Sanskrit names Rañha and Rasah for a mythical river, which was said to flow around the Earth.[3] It has been suggested that the name Russia may have been derived from Rasah/Rosah, the Iranic name of the Volga River (F.Knauer, Moscow 1901). These Iranic words are all connected in their primary meaning of "dew, liquid, moisture".
Ciekawe że Obodryci kolonizujący w VIIw. Rugię nazwali ją Rana. Ponadto dawna nazwa rzeki Kubań to Antykit(Anty ?).

Mar(e)k->Markiewicz Malko->Malkowicz, Malko->(Malkewicz)Malkiewicz n.p. Chodko->Chodkiewicz Sieńko->Sieńkiewicz. Malik->Malikowicz, Malikiewicz czy Mal(i)kiewicz? Malek Recorded in over fifty spellings froms including Maly, Malec, Malak, Malata. Malov, Malicki, Maltsev, Malenkov, Malyj, Maliszewski, and found as well in Poland, Russia, The Ukraine, Hungary, and Croatia, this is a surname of Czech origins. It derives from the pre medieval word "maly" meaning small, and hence was either a nickname for a person of small stature (or given the robust humour of the period, the complete reverse!), or it was a personal name of endearment given as a baptismal name to a child, which later developed as a surname. It is said that in Poland the name translated as "young man" and it may be that this meaning also applied in other countries. What is certain is that in its many and varied forms this is one of Eastern Europes most popular names. Sadly early records from these countries are either non existent or when they occur at all, much later than equivalent British records or even German registers, which can often be traced with reasonable accuracy back to at least the 15th century. These recordings from surviving registers of Czechoslovakia (as was) upto 1992, include Symon Maly, the son of Jan Maly, who was christened at Busisov, Trebic, on October 20th 1699, and Matej Malyj, who married Anna Czierna, at Zaroice, Kyjov, on January 10th 1703.
