Ales1477 I must thank you very much. This is the missing piece! Wasily Lipowicz is my great grandfather and he is on that document. Now I have a time and a place where the family was. I want to know what happened to him after 1934. Would Polish archives have such information? Or Belarus, maybe Zhichin? This is beginning to make sense now.

I have an Attestation Paper where he was sworn into the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Forces on March 15, 1916. The place was Fort Francis which is in the Rainy River district that is shown on the first badge. He died in Vancouver in 1970 at age 79. I met him in 1966, he was still writing to his friend in Zhichin.
You have been a great help to my family.

VC! I am most impressed! I spend hours on military sites and find interesting things but not related to my search. I also notice your English is very good. Small things like this make me happy. It is 7:00 AM in Ontario Canada and I'm having a good day.

I also have a second cousin living in Malech today who knows Dokuchic history and is a great help for that lineage but not Lipovich

Belarus Archives sent Dokuchic history back to 1700. Without knowledge of Elena's birth place good luck to find correct family. Julia was born 13 November 1906, Elena 12 April 1888, arrived New York 3 June 1912 left Libau Latvia 21 May 1912. Also had daughter Olga born 28 November 1911. Kurowszczyzna is also mentioned as possible birth place only 80 miles from Malech.

First I must thank you for kind reply. Please tell me how to put the photo on this forum. I am new here and happy to get reply.
I am translating from Russian on my computer, the sentence is changed but can understand it well enough. I am pleased to have help of people who know history of this land. I would be very old if I had to do this by myself and find results. My grandparents where married and had a child Julia, then Michael came to Canada in 1908. Asked my aunt how he could meet a Polish girl, the answer "she drove the beer wagon" I need to find where she was born to get better results. Maybe death records of brothers will provide. I have Dokuchic ancestors from Archives of Belarus. Lipovich can not find any. I am pleased to receive help on this matter.

My name is Mike Dokuchic, in Canada my grandfather came from Malic village of Pruzhany district Grodno in 1908 his name is the same as mine. I believe his wife Elana Lipovich was from Zhishin. Her brother Nicolas in 1913 came to USA, three brothers Ivan, Stephan and Vladimir did not. She spoke Polish her father Wasily and mother Josephine Zemchuk. I have a photo of the 3 brothers from 1930. One brother has a cap with star on it and a uniform. I have found war records for many Lipovich but not these men. Nicolas came to live in Belarus home village around 1930 and came back to USA in 1933 with wife and son Raymond. I would like to know what happened to Ivan, Stephan and Vladimir.
