16 апреля 2021 9:28 I have been stuck on my great-grandfather’s family for probably more than a decade at this point. Hoping someone can help me. I have all the US records there seems to be. I have included all the information that is obtained from those records below. My great-grandfather died when my grandfather was two years old. Therefore, he lacked any information of his father’s family. Though I am doubtful much would have been shared, as that has been my experience with most of my great-grandparents. I've been more successful with all the others, thankfully.
Xawery Wojtkiewicz (Xavier, Ksawery) Birth October 20, 1861 - 1900 US census lists birth as Feb 1855 and age as 45. He is listed with his brother’s family in this record. The only births that don’t match with other records are his brother Feli - His birth place is listed as “Minsk, Poland” on death certificate. - Church marriage record with birthplace and parents names in file I included. I think the place may be Rubiezewicze, Minsk, Belarus. After finding this record a few years back, I found a forgotten notebook from years prior in which I had written “Humierowoczyna, Poland” with a note under “Huminska, Humienowszczyzna now Rubiezewicze, in Belarus, Parish Kajdano” I have no idea where I got that information from. - Parents states as John Wojtkiewicz and Camelia Minkiewicz in records of Xawery’s and his brothers. - Per United States Census records he arrived in 1888 or 1890. I have been unable to locate ship manifest. - His only marriage that I know of was to my great-grandmother, Marianna Stus, in Chicago 1909 - He had 3 brothers that I know of; Felix, Peter and Anton, all immigrated to US, Felix only one married outside of US
Felicjan Wojtkiewicz (brother) - Birth August 15, 1860 in Russia/Poland (per death certificate, daughter signed as informant) - Birth listed as May 1858 in 1900 US Federal Census, also 1858 in other census records - Immigrated to US in 1890, 1891 or 1892 per Census records with wife and at least 2 children (1910 census record state 11 children born and 8 living) - Marriage in 1884 or 1885 per US Census Records
* Wife, Jozefa Dolgopol - written Dołhopoł in multiple children’s birth records - Birth March 3, 1863 • Russia (1855 per census records)
* Son, Edward Wojtkiewicz - Birth May, 15, 1890 • Poland, Russia
* Son, Ksawery (Xavier, Xawery) Francis Wojtkiewicz - Birth May 17, 1889 - birthplace stated as “Province of Minsk, Poland” in U.S., World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942
Anton Wojtkiewicz (brother) - Birth June 6, 1867 - Birthplace Poland/Russia - Immigrated about 1894
Peter Wojtkiewicz (brother) - Birth 1870 in “Warsaw, Poland” per death certificate - June 2, 1872 per other family trees on Ancestry.com - Spelled “Woitkiewicz” marriage record
On Ancestry,com, multiple family trees have unsourced information regarding birthplaces, parents births and their ancestors. I am unable to confirm the information and have not been able to find who initially posted the information after messaging multiple people. There are Wojtkiewicz families in multiple states with many of the same family first names. I think there has been a lot of mistakes made that has then been saved in other trees. Felix and Xawery were in Chicago. Piotr started in Nebraska and ended up in Chicago. Anton was in Nebraska. Family states there were cousins “on the east coast,” but they don’t remember which state. There are Wojtkiewicz families in multiple east coast states and I have not been able to figure out where the connection is.
Thanks in advance, for any assistance and guidance. |
