Вот цитаты из его писем: ----------------------------------------------------------- My mother's family came from Berlislav (or Novo Berislav, as she used to said) in the Kherson Government, Ucraine, to Argentina in the erlier 1900's. (in your site: Argentina - arrived at the beginning of XX century from ??? ) The family was recorded here as BERENSTAM -I do not know how was the last name written in their documents when they arrived here-, but my mother (who born here in Argentina in 1912) remembered that the pronuntiation was quite different, as "Ber'n-sh-tam". Therefore I think it is highly possible that we both have the same ancestors. My grandfhater's name was Meyer Leib Berenstam and Sara Klein. As my mother told me (there are any paper to confirm the exact names) Meyer was the first son of Yankiel Berenstam and Rahel Rose Gotlieb; and Sara was the sixth daughter of xxx Klein and Rifke Gotlieb (by the way, I saw in your "1843 Nowo Berislav List translated by Pavel Bernshtam" those last names). Because the Meyer's first daughter born in 1888, I think he born in the 1850's and therefore it is possible that his father (Yankiel) was a member of one of those families that arrived in 1843 to Berislav ( perhaps which is mentioned in the census 1858, item D. Yankiel Bershtam [1835 - ?]). --------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I told you, Yankel's first son Meyer Leib came to Argentina in earlier 1900's (perhaps in 1908). He came with his wife Sara Klein and with their 10 children. Their names and birth dates (when I know it) are as follows: Julia (1888) - Yankel - Adolf - Bernard - Luise (1898) - Abram (1900) - Dvoira (1902) - Anthony (1904) - Isaac (1906) - Raoul (1908). They went to a farm place far from Buenos Aires and after three or four years of difficulties (floods, locust pest, wind storms) they moved to Buenos Aires city, where Meyer worked as shoemaker and his sons worked in turning lathe industry or as tailors. Those days (1912) my mother Guitel born. As you can imagine, Those 11 brothers had a lot of children: 27 in total, of which I am the penultimate. I was born in 1941 (64 years old); and I have a sister - Rosa (1935) a medicine doctor- and a brother - Mario (1938) a lawyer-. |
