Is the 1816 census at this link: https://yandex.ru/archive/cata...c53c156b/2 if it is there, how to find the Nechaev without having to search the 1000+ pages?
[/q]
Yandex archives service was invented as an AI tool reading handwritten texts (of course, to the best of its ability). So, if the AI won't find it via the search tool, then you'll need to go though yourself, until you find the right census. The only way to go through the documents yourself I know is to change the page number in the hyperlink. For example: https://yandex.ru/archive/cata...c53c156b/2To go to the next page I type 3, instead of 2 after the last slash (/3) and enter. There's also the direct Moscow city archive service, with the traditional page navigation. https://cgamos.ru/metric-books/Moscow archive's censuses https://cgamos.ru/skazki/confession books: https://cgamos.ru/ispovedalnye_vedomosti/

29 àâãóñòà 2023 10:48 FuranNietchaieff íàïèñàë: [q] Another question comes to my mind. Is there any way to find a photo of Grigory Nechaev? as he was a soldier I thought that there was perhaps a photo of him somewhere[/q]
Theoretically, if there's a file on him as an officer in an archive, but it's unlikely so it contains any photo, because it was the 19th century and photos were still quite rare. He could also appear on a group photo with his corps, but would you recognize him? If so, you can search for the right corps photos. | | Ëàéê (1) |

It depends if his son Mikhail looks a lot like him, if so I should be able to recognize him. It also depends on the quality of the image. I'm going to apply for his military file on the website you gave me

I've wanted to comment on it for some times now. Don't get me wrong, but you may not fully realize just how lucky you are that you've gotten so much about your ancestry just via a forum. VGD is not a service of free genealogists, here usually people search on their own or pay for research in archives. On this thread, people just try to help as much as they can, because you're a foreigner and don't seem to speak Russian, and it's too hard for you alone. However, don't fully rely on getting 100% of your genealogy just like this. I wish it was so easy in Russia, but most people collect their genealogies piece-by-piece for years. Don't get me wrong, again. Foreigners on this website just need to realize, there's no magical ancesty.com in Russia that contains all about their Russian ancestry)) | | Ëàéê (1) |

I realize how lucky I am. My goal was to learn more about Grigory and his close family. My goal was achieved and I am grateful to everyone who helped me in this process. In addition I was able to know the different sites to find archives etc. When I get Grigory's military file, the Nechaev chapter will be concluded.

29 àâãóñòà 2023 14:07 15 ôåâðàëÿ 2025 18:31 I was about to send the request for the military file. I put a period between 1849 and 1885 then I wrote my request : "Hello, I would like to obtain some information about the Øòàáíîé-êàïèòàí Ãðèãîðèé Ìèõàéëîâè÷ Íå÷àåâ. He was born in 1831 in Moscow at +/- 1 year old, son of Ìèõàèë Âàñèëüåâè÷ Íå÷àåâ and Ñòåïàíèäà Âàñèëüåâíà Òèõîìèðîâà. He began his military career in 1849. Then he had a cross for his service in the Caucasus and a silver medal for the conquest of Chechnya and Dagestan and a bronze medal in memory of the war of 1853- 56 and the pacification of the Polish rebellion of 1863-64. Finally, he was Øòàáíîé-êàïèòàí of the Novo-Troksky 169th infantry regiment in Vilnius in 1877-1878 before taking his retirement between 1878 and 1885. He died in Kowno, Lithuania in 1918"
I would like to know if my request sounds good and if they need more information. I can add marriage and son.

No, it doesn't. Requests to Russian archives should be implemented in a different way, for formal. Ideally in Russian. It's a red-tape. It's no wonder if they won't reply. I'd do it via a genealogist instead. I sent you a personal message. I don't know if it got through. | | Ëàéê (1) |

30 àâãóñòà 2023 14:17 Good morning, while waiting to be able to go further with the military file and company, I wanted to continue to find other Nechaev cousins. I was looking in particular for the child of Alexander Konstantinovich Nechaev and Anne Egorovna. I found a birth certificate. I'm not saying it's the right parentage but I wanted to know the first name of the child's father. I don't think the AI deciphered his first name correctly. the AI writes Kisla Aleksandrovich Nechaev but I don't feel like it's a real name. Here is the link : acte de naissanceThanks in advance.
