6 сентября 2013 22:19 I would appreciate some guidance in where I can find records to search for my husband's maternal grandmother.
I just received her naturalization records. Her Oath of Allegiance was taken 5 Sept. 1940 in PA. On her petition her married name is Julia Mary Pruzinsky. It has her place of birth as Savurow, Slovakia, Dec 23, 1892. Her last foreign residence was Liverpool, England. Entered under the name Julia PETRO. Entry into the US was at Baltimore, MD on Dec 30, 1903. Ship was not listed.
We do not have her parent's names. Possibly, Joseph Petro and mother may have been Mary. Petro may have been her step-father.
Julia PETRO was about 11 years old when she entered the US. Were minors listed by name and located on the passenger lists with their parents?
Is there a list of ships from Liverpool to Baltimore,MD for Dec 30, 1903? (I don't know how accurate this entry date is?)
A NARA search isn't possible, because I don't have enough information. The only ship lists I have found for MD were for earlier dates.
I have not located Julia PETRO on the 1910 census (age abt 18), but in 1920 she was married (2nd marriage) and living in Indiana Co, PA. There is a Joseph and Mary Petro living fairly close, but their info doesn't quite match. My husband remembers his G-GM, but not her name.
I am a complete novice on this type of research, so any information, suggestions or advice will be gratefully received.
