I am trying to trace my maternal grandfather who I believe was born in Grodno, Belarus in 1868. His first name was Wolf (or Wulf or Vulf) and his anglicised surname was Belchetz. However, we believe this surname was a derivation from a Belarus surname. The attached photo is the only reference we have to his original surname. As you will see the inscription on the back is written in Russian. I have had it translated into English twice but the two translations differ as follows: 1.. In the first instance, I am hoping you will be able to provide the correct surname for my grandfather and his friend.
I would appreciate if you could also tell me the name of the photographer, the town and any other information on the photo.
