Apologies, I do not speak Russian and am using google translate to use/navigate this site.
My father told me our Catholic family had an estate in the Ukraine somewhere west of Kiev. The family never wanted to talk about what happened in 1918 other than they had to leave in fear of their lives and escape to Chernovitz where they lived until the outbreak of WW11.
I have a Polish book with pictures of my father, aunt and grandfather who were I am told were involved with helping fellow Poles leave the Ukraine before WW11. My father left Chernovitz in 1939 and made his way to France to join the Free Polish Army before relocating to England. He spent the war serving in SOE. After the war he stayed in England for the remainder of his life My grandfather was arrested in the 1930's and imprisoned somewhere is Russia and my grandmother, who ended up in Warsaw, was told in the 1950's that her husband had died on Russian soil in 1947.
I would really like to find out where my grandparents lived in the Ukraine and a little bit more about their respective families.
I know it's a long shot but any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Richard Nehrebecki --- I am researching my fathers family Nehrebecki who left the Ukraine in about 1918 and moved to Chernowitz. Grandfather Filimon, Grandmother Maria, their daughters Anna and Wanda and son (my father) Zbigniew. |
