Тема: HELP! searching for my family roots
26.11.2011, 9:13

kbg_dnepr or any interested party,

Thank You for inquiring regarding my request for help in searching for my ancestral roots.

Forgive me, but I have been busy with my own business and life and only now and getting back to my search.

My grandfather comes from a long line of Zaporozhye cossacks, who moved to the Kuban after Katherine outlawed the cossacks in the Ukraine.

Unfortunately, I do no know my great great grandfather's name, so that is of no help.

My grandfather, Sava was born, I believe in Stanitsa Vararnekovskaya, in 1860 and died in Krasnodar in 1957. Before the Revolution of 1917, I understand that he was Ataman of the Stanitsa and lead and engaged the Turks on Turkish soil in 1913 and 1914.

Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Тема: HELP! searching for my family roots
11.01.2010, 7:37

Hello,

My name is Vladimir Pavlovich Sirota. My fathers name is Pavel Sava Sirota, and my grandfather is Savelii Timofeyvich Sirota. My Grandfather was Polkovnik, Kubanki Kazaki, in the Stanitsa of Varenikovksa in the Krasnodaski Krae.

I understand that our family came to the Kuban shortly after Katherine outlawed the the Cossack in the Ukraine and our family settled in the region west of Krasnodar and half way between Krim and Krasnodar, there was a village called Sirotske Silo. I have found this on several maps.

Though I speak and understand Russian, I have not practiced reading in Russian for nearly 50 years. So my Russian Reading is poor.

Any assistance and help would be greatly appreciated.

Volodya Sirota
