Yes, that is correct. It is a picture of him, and if the date is correct he was 14. Does it say anything important on the back or is it just from a store that takes pictures? i manages to catch a "Petrograd" in there

Unfortunately no. We only knew he came alone, and in theory all his family was killed.
I did find something I hope will be very useful. A picture my mom had, that has a lot of writing on the back that I'm sure you fine folks can help me translate

Ah ok I see. Problem is I don't know more details for Wolf, only what it says in my grandfather's papers that his mother (wolf's wife) is supposedly "Sofia Iskaldska"...
In any case the info would be to track down my grandfather's place of birth (Alexandre) to try to obtain his birth certificate and other relevant documents.

Wouldn't these lists be too old? Maybe I'm reading wrong (probably) but they seem for the 1800's, and he was born in 1905

Thank you, I will take a look. Yes, they were of jewish origin, so Yiddish sounds about right. I am not sure about his family though, the story goes they were all murdered, and some lawyer helped him escape, not sure if to to my country or somewhere intermediate before he came here.

Hello everyone,
I am trying to find out information about my grandfather.
I live in argentina, and he came here as a young man. His last name does not sound Russian at all, it is more German sounding, but I do not know if that is just the origin, or if his family moved from Germany to Russia, or if they were actually born im Russia.
I do not have (yet) any original documents, and on the argentina documents I found so far it says:
- His name on Argentinian documents is written as "Weyner, Alejandro"
- His name on the arrival record is written as "Wejner, Alexandre"
- On his marriage certificate, it state the birth place was Minsk (01/01/1905)
- On all documents it states parents were "Wolf Weyner (or Wejner) and Sofia Iskaldska (cannot find anyone with this name anywhere searching the Internet), and states both are/were Russian
- On his marriage certificate, and on the death certificate, for citizenship it says "Russian"
- On a record of landing where it says when he came by boat, citizenship says "Polish"
- He came on May 26, 1923
- He was born on Jan 1st, 1905
Any help on how/where I might be able to find information regarding his birth, roamings,etc would be much appreciated.

Edit: I understand that since he came in 1923 and Poland re-formed in 1920, that he may have been in previously Russian land and then given polish citizenship between then and when he came to my country, and that's why on the record of landing it says "polish".
