Thank you Ewa. I haven't seen this before. I wonder if the is any info about the graduates from the cadet school in Odessa from that period. Also I know that Zygmunt married Anna Dubino-Kniażycka probably somewhere there. Kris

Ludwik Kuryłło / Лудвиг Курилло (?)
Full Polish Name: Ludwik Mieczysław Wincenty Kuryłło Parents: Ludwik and Laura, née Wyżykowska Born: 1885-01-01 in Dzików (Tarnobrzeg), Województwo podkarpackie, Polska (then in the Austrian partition) Died: 1932-01-12 in Переволоки, Самарская область, Россия
Ludwik MW’s father was actually born Dominik Ludwik Kuryło and he was the younger brother of Antoni Kuryło, the father of Augustyn and Zbigniew. He was an agronom (pl) by education and initially worked as one in a couple of estates. However when he worked for the Tarnowski family, an aristocratic Polish family, he became the kasjer (pl) of their Dzików estate. He was a highly trusted and valued official of the estate and performed many other duties.
Ludwik MW was learning in the Dzików estate to be a brewmaster. However when he served in the Imperial Austrian army in 1904, he beat up a physically abusive Austrian officer. To avoid a trail, he escaped to Russia. It is unknown what name he used there. First he went to the Far East, probably to Астрахань, where his father’s friend (a Tatar businessman) lived, but later he moved to Ростов-на-Дону. Probably there he started to work in the fishing industry and married Karolina Sukert (Polish) in about 1916. Together they moved to Кануевка, Самарская область. It is not exactly known where and when their daughter Jadwiga was born, possibly in Ростов-на-Дону in about 1918. Karolina died soon after in Кануевка. Then Ludwik MW lived unmarried with an unknown woman for some time. In about 1926, he married a woman by the name of Maria (Russian). Her family name is unknown. Together they had two daughters, Viera and Nina. Both daughters were born in Переволоки in about 1928 and 1929, respectively. Ludwik MW died suddenly in 1932 and it is unknown what happened to his family. Attached is a picture of him, his wife and his three daughters taken probably in 1931.

Augustyn Kuryło / Август Антонович Курыло (Курило)
Full Polish Name: Augustyn Arnold Kuryło Parents: Antoni and Marianna, née Doroszewska Born: about 1871 in Kocudza, Wojewodztwo lubelskie, Polska (then in the Russian partition) Died: 1937-12-04 in Жито́мир, Жито́мирська о́бласть, Украї́на
Augustyn’s birth record seems to have been entered 1 or 2 years later than his real birth year and in the different parish. Kocudza belonged to the nearby Janów Lubelski (Biała) parish, not Goraj, and he could not have been born 1873-11-15 since that is just 15 weeks before his younger brother Zygmunt’s birthday. Augustin’s and Zygmunt’s father, actually Antoni Rudolf Stanisław Kuryło, was an RC church organist by education and he initially worked as one for some time. However he became a postmaster later. Just at the end of his short life, he became an organist again. Since the brother’s mother also died prematurely, they were raised by the extended family.
Augustyn was a lawyer and worked as an advocate in Saint Petersburg. There he had a wife whose maiden name was Olesztynska. Her first name is unknown. At the end of December, 1903, he went to Moscow in some business and the family did not hear from him since then. However there are Soviet era documents saying that he lived in Zhytomyr in 1930s where his wife was Рахіль (Марія) Хаїмівна (Марківна) Бронштейн-Курило. Both he and his wife were murdered by NKVD in 1937. It is unknown if Augustyn had any children. Below is some data extracted from the NKVD records (uk).

The name Kuryło/Kuryłło appears not only in Ukraine and Belarus but also along the whole eastern boarder of Poland. The three Kuryło/Kuryłło men mention below, although born to Polish parents, lived and died in Imperial Russia/USSR. Perhaps there are some Russian-speaking decedents of them who search for their origins.
Augustyn Kuryło (1871 – 1937) Zygmunt Kuryło (1874 – 1918) Ludwik Kuryłło (1885 – 1932)

Re. the info from the Armorial of Belarusian gentry book.
That looks generally fine to me with the following exceptions/comments.
* The first paragraph indicates that the authors of the book are not sure about the name of Gen. I,1 (Maciej or Marcin). It would be interesting to see that info for the years 1839 and 1816. To tell the truth, I do not fully understand this paragraph, especially the phrase in the brackets “(17 у асноў най галіне)”.
* It is interesting to see the name Ćwirko in Gen. II,2/1 since this is another name that appears later in the family.
* There is a conflict between the birthdays of Gen. II,2/1 and the birthdays of Gen III,3/2 and 4/2. Parents born about 1796 cannot have children born about 1804 and 1807.
* I think that the two wives of Gen III,5/2 are two different persons since their names must have been taken from the birth records of Gen IV,8/5 and 9/5. Wife names are usually correct in birth records.
* Gen III, 6/2 name Florian appears in Zbyszek’s family tree, too, but as a son of Gen. III,5/2.
* I am so pleased that the birthday of Gen. IV,8/5 is so close to Zbigniew’s estimate of 1854.
* For the Gen IV,9/5 name, Zbigniew has Florian, not Jan. I think it is really Jan considering that he thought that Florian was born about 1838.
I really would like to have a copy of the page with the annotations No. 76, 77 and 78. Can you make it for me? Please, please... Do you know if I can buy that book somewhere?
Now I really think that the Daszkiewicz family from this book and my Daszkiewicz family are one and the same family.
Thanks again, Kris

I made a mistake. I had Michał for Zbigniew’s great-grandfather’s name in my database, but it should be Mikołaj. An important discrepancy resolved! Attached is a family tree that was sketched based on Zbigniew’s info by a family friend.

GrayRam, this is fantastic. Thanks a lot! You have probably found them. I say probably just because there are some discrepancies between this info and the info Zbigniew left us. For example, Zbigniew thought that his great-grandparent’s name was Michał, not Mikołaj. Also, info on Adam’s children is missing. I am still trying to reconcile those discrepancies. When I am finished, I will share my thoughts on it with you.
In the meantime, is there any info on the Niewiarowski and Wróblewski families in that book? My wife is the daughter of Danuta and, as a woman, she is very interested in the maternal linage.
And again, thank you very, very much.

I am writing this post hoping to learn more about the ancestors of Jòzef Daszkiewicz (ИОСИФ АДАМОВИЧ ДАШКЕВИЧ), who was mentioned in the first post, and his wife Maria. They survived WW2 and returned to Poland together with their daughter Danuta. Their son Zbigniew settled in Canada. Jòzef’s parents were Adam and Emilia Łazowska. Maria’s parents were Jòzef Niewiarowski and Konstancja Wróblewska. Before WW2, Jòzef Daszkiewicz was a forest ranger working for the Radziwiłłs. The family lived near Davyd-Haradok and Kažan-Haradok. Buda is not far away from Davyd-Haradok so maybe there is a connection. Also names mentioned in some other posts like Siekierzycki and Hryniewicz are also in the family. Bay the way, I am impressed with GrayRam's research on his Daszkiewicz family.
