Сообщения elcas (2)Тема: Death certificate of a British subject in 1832 10.06.2015, 1:01
Leontiya,
thanks.
It was an interesting dossier/fond but no ancestor.
By the way, the name of my maternal family "Hide ", causes difficulties in Russian. I know from my grandmother that is was sometimes pronounced as Gide. In the English translation on this site/forum the name is changed in the verb " to hide ".
Still 2 questions: - where there official Russian death certificates in that period?
- is it useful to send a letter to the Smolensky cemetery or an other archive?
Any suggestion would be helpful.

My 4x grandfather Charles Hide - British subject - lived and worked in St.-Petersburg. He died on 4 -08- 1832 and was buried at Smolensky cemetery.
Would there be a Russian death certificate ? Or an orbituary in the Petersburg Gazette? :
I hope to find his place of birth!!!!
Any help would be appreciated.
