Hello Maia,

generally all names mentioned seems to be of German origin.

Jorge Jacobo Schvartz = German = Georg Jacob Schwartz

Catalina Fusch = could be Catharina

Typically these names are a little bit "transformed" on the moment they enter a new country. Normally they are written as the person in charge on the border "understand" the name......

I attached a shipping manifest from ancestry.com from England, port of Liverpool for leaving vessels on April 1912.

There is a Georg Schwartz (and many more people with the same surname) coming from Russia to England on a Russian ship named "Odessa"

The ship mentioned in the manifest had the destination of "Buenos Aires

Second check: on the manifest list is a person named Marie Schwartz, female and 2 1/2 years old, maybe it could be Maria, born 1910 in Saratov ?

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Regards
Alex

Please try to check if the age of the all people with the surname "Schwartz"on that list might correspond to the information you have already.

Hi Alex,
THanks a lot!
It seems that Georg and Marie are the ones I am looking for =)
Could be that Marie the wife is Catalina...
Now I have this, I would try to keep researching where did they lived, why did they left the country and also their religion.
Do you have any idea where I could start?
Thanks again and have a good day.

Hello Maia,

o.k., it looks like another hint:

Catalina Fusch = German: Catharina FUCHS (surname translates in English "fox")

I have found this on myheritage.de

It looks like the FUCHS family lived in a German settlement in Russia called Hussenbach.

Make sure to understand that the Catharina Fuchs from the attached hardcopy is not the one you are looking for ;-)

But it looks like many parts of the FUCHS family moved to Argentina, so the best advice is to grap the telephon book for the place mentioned in that hardcopy and try to reach somebody. Maybe it works.

In this familytree for the FUCHS family there is also somebody mentioned who is researching them.

Regards
Alex

Hello Alex!
THanks a lot again!
Your advice is great, I have already done sth like that 101.gif
The thing is that the Catalina Fusch I am looking for seems to have came only with her husband and childrens (Schvartz). None of the Fuchs and Shwartz thar live in or near Urdinarrain (as the copy mentions) are related to them. Also some of them have came from Hussenbach and other from the Pale (Pogroms).
Unlikely myheritage is really expensive in Argentina... I could reach the basics only
What I would like to find now is the exit from Odessa, maybe there mentions where they lived...
Regards!
Maia

Hola Maia,
Has probado buscar en alfabeto cirilico?
y etcétera...

Hola Vedra,
Casi seguro NO eran católicos.

https://www.volgagermans.org/w...hussenbach

Hello Maia,

some additonal information:

1. Here you will find some resources regarding confirmed names and their relation to a spesific settlement for the name "Schwartz"

https://www.volgagermans.org/w...s/schwartz

2. The same as above for the name "Fuchs"
(scroll down for the end of the list, many entries for this name !)

https://www.volgagermans.org/w...surnames/f

These links will also gives you a hint where these people might come from in Germany.

On the top menue you will find a link for "Resources", following this you will find a list of "revision list" means listing of people in a specific place at a specific time.
They also mention where to find these lists, some are only available as a printed book, some online at www.familysearch.org

The 10th revision took place in 1857 maybe its possible to find at least the family (mother and/or father) of the two persons in question.

3. The "Amburger Database" can be found here:
https://amburger.ios-regensburg.de/

You can enter a name and check the results for any connection to your persons.

The contents is build up of people living in Russia before the Russian Revolution by extracting many different sources.
Just an impression from my personal research, it looks like its more easiy to find people in official jobs (military or senior officals etc.)

This database can give you better hints if you already have some knowledge about firstname/lastname and places of living...........

Question: Are there any documents in Argentina about the incoming immigrants ? Maybe you should check this first in order to get a smaller timeframe for further researches.......just an idea.

Regards
Alex

Hi Alex!
excellent information. I appreciate a lot!
the thing is that I couldn't still find Catalina Fusch or Georg Schwartz birth (around 1870) or place where they lived, neither their exit from Odessa. That is why this great information you gave me will be very useful when I could learn sth about their parents, given the dates.
Also both surnames were very common and suffered writting variations...
About your question, that was the first thing I looked for. And it seems to match the ship manifest you helped me with. Those are the same that I found in Argetina inmigration entry. Also it matches with the little my grandma knows.
So, according to all this, they came to Argentina in 1912, Maria with 2.5 years and Georg 43 and Catalina 42. That is why I believe they were born around 1870. Also the age matches with Georg burial record.
Thanks a lot for your help and time!
Maia
