<description>  Leontiya,&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;thanks.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;It was an interesting dossier/fond but no ancestor.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;By the way, the name of my maternal family "Hide ", causes difficulties in Russian. I know from my grandmother that is was sometimes pronounced as Gide.  In the English translation on this site/forum the name is changed in the verb  " to hide ".&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Still 2 questions: - where there official Russian death certificates in that period?&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;                           - is it useful to send a letter to the Smolensky cemetery or an other archive?&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Any suggestion would be helpful.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;elcas  </description>

<description>  My 4x grandfather Charles Hide - British subject - lived and worked in St.-Petersburg. He died on 4 -08- 1832 and was buried at Smolensky cemetery.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Would there be a Russian death certificate ?
