Vladimir and Dmitry Davidovits Grendal were the most famous generals in Soviet army having roots from Finland. Their father David was colonel-lieutnant in Emperior army and seems to be graduated from Helsinki Yunker School at 1878, died in Russo-Japan war 1905.

David Gröndahl from my home village moved to Sveaborg to join Russian Army. I can follow his career from Sveaborg Fort battalion to 213th Oravais Regiment by reading Finnish historical newspaper archive and Internet sources.

What I'm still lacking is his exact birthday to confirm if he's my relative. I appreciate any good ideas how to find more information about David Johanovits Grendal (Gröndahl) from Russian archive sources?

I expect that in Russia might still be some relatives of Vladimir and Dmitry... regards.
