A DNA test is a genetic profile. It is compared with millions of other profiles. The system finds matches and offers a list of potential relatives with the estimated degree of kinship. However, genetics does not tell the stories of ancestors, does not show their photos, and does not restore family legends. Therefore, the ideal format for genealogical research is to combine a DNA test with archival research.

On Ancestry, my map shows regions that relatives lived in. 23andme highlights Altai Republic and Ancestry shows this specific region of Altai Krai. The other photo is a population map of Altaians. It overlaps with these regions that show. I have not heard anything from my brother or know anything about my mother's side other than the graves provided and that my cousin confirmed Nenets and Altaian roots.
