A great source for immigrants to the US are ship records, with Europe is more difficult, so each tiny thing can help.

For ex., what confession? Henin sounds for me rather Jewish, am I wrong? all the records at that time were in church books, so we have to understand, were it orthodox, catholoc or other churches, where we have to search.

By the way, Briansk oblast did not exist in the early XX century. Briansk itself was in Orel gubernia, but Mglin - in Chernigov gubernia. You have to understand in details geographic location of villages that you are interested by, because all metric documents are sorted by churches - so you have to determine where the nearest church was. If you know the church and the year of birth - you can see the metric books in archive (or online) and find the registration of the birth, with the names of both parents.

Hello,

I am looking for traces of my ancestors in the village of Netyagovka, Briansk oblast, or maybe Mglin, at the beginning of the 20th century. I only have bits and pieces of information.
Three names: Henin (��) Ivan (I'm not sure about the spelling), Lisenko Mary and maybe also Antonina, their daughter...

I don't know if I can get far with this little information but I'm trying.
