Are there burial records for cemeteries in Grozny? Look for death date of Leonid Alekseevich Belfort (or Rymkevich) who may have died around 1950.
[/q]

Try searching here for http://www.care95.ru/

I was not able to find Leonid Alekseevich Belfort in a Grozny cemetery.

Probably yes. My father's parents lived at the address Grozny, Sunzhenskaya Street, 70.

Are there any photographs of this area around 1950, especially the street in particular?

Thank you. I'm researching Leonid Alexeevich Belfort and wife Mary Frances Belfort. I think they may have lived in Grozny and may have died around 1950.

Does the address Grozny, Sunzhenskaya street number 83 still exist? I"m researching Leonid Alekseevich Belfort who might have lived there in 1948-1950. He was about 75 at the time. I'm writing his life history and would like to know if a photo of the house is possible or if any family members or descendants are still living.

I'm also looking for information about the origin of the surname Belfort. There is information about my great-grandfather Nikolai Belfort, born on December 22, 1899 in the city of Tyumen, but I could not find anyone his parents, nor where this surname came to Russia.

I am researching a Leonid Alekseevich Rymkevich, born in Mozdok North Ossetia 28 March 1875. He immigrated to the US in 1907 and changed his name to Leo A Belfort. I'd like to know why he chose that name. Any suggestions?

Is there any information about Alexy Rymkewicz who may be Leonid Alekseevich Rymkevich's father? Alexy may have been working for customs in Caucasus in 1860s and 1870s.

More info about Leonid Alekseevich Rymkevich. He married an Anna ? in Kars 1902. She reportedly deserted him in 1907. He was apparently wanted in Georgia for certain political crimes but immigrated to US in 1907 before he was apprehended. In the US he changed his surname to Belfort and worked in several states, registered for the draft, divorced Anna in 1915, married Mary Frances Kirby in 1916. They departed for Russia using the name Leo A Belfort in 1922 where he may have been detained and worked in the Main Shops in Perm. In 1927 (or maybe before) Leo worked as an Inspector for the NKPS and they lived in several towns in western Russia/Ukraine. Leo's sister Lydia and his mother Anastasia lived in Pyatigorsk. In 1928 Leo and Mary left Russia for the US via Mexico. They lived for several years in New York City. In 1933 they left the US and were on a ship to Leningrad via Southampton UK. I lost track of them at Southampton.

I am new to researching Russian individuals. Looking for information about Leonid Alexis Rymkevich (or similar spellings). Born Mozdok, North Ossetia 28 March 1875. Is this the correct forum for this inquiry?
